YOGA
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200 248647). I am trained in yoga philosophy, yoga anatomy, asanas (poses), stretching, breathing, trauma-informed methods, and, mindfulness practiced. I received my training at K10Yoga School, Yoga Alliance Certified, in Winston Salem NC. I am available for individual/private session, offer group sessions and classes. I often incorporate these best-practices techniques within my psychotherapy and encourage an informed-decision regarding this approach.
Yoga, by definition, is the union of the body, the mind and the spirit. The full 8-fold path of Yoga is actually a combination of lifestyle (internal and external), moral actions, purification practices (including nutrition), physical postures, breathing techniques, and progressively deeper meditation through regular practice.
The movement of yoga - Asana - is only one of these eight parts of yoga. The postures/poses are just a tool to be used to reach that goal of profound, transcendental meditation. These postures can be modified to meet you where you are: whether that is on the mat, in the chair, or on your couch. I most often use the meditation and breathing practices of yoga in therapeutic sessions as grounding techniques and ways to
enhance emotional regulation.
